The first sonagram...reality sets in

We first discovered I was pregnant on Thursday March 19th or 26th, we can't recall which week but we know it was a Thursday. It was actually quite a shock to us and took us a few weeks before the whole idea of having another child settled in. Once we realized that we still had all of the baby 'hardware' in storage, a huge weight was lifted off our shoulders. It's been 4 1/2 years since we've done the 'baby' thing so we're pretty much starting over again but it's also kind of nice to have 'been there and done that' already, we're armed with knowledge so hopefully it will be a bit easier this time around. Plus Willow will be such a wonderful big sister and such a great help in taking care of the baby. It seems like perfect timing, something meant to be.
We had Willow share the news with my parents on the phone one night. I was only 5 weeks along at the time and while it's scary to announce it so early due to the risk of miscarriage before 12 weeks, I could not keep it a secret for long. Not to mention the fact that I was already showing! Willow called up my Dad and told him that "Momma is making a baby in her tummy." Usually both of my parents are on speakerphone together but this time they weren't so Willow got the privilege of making the announcement once again to her Grandma. Oh boy were they escactic! Of course we then had to make the round of calls to the rest of the family and shortly after I made the announcement at work. I was only 7 weeks when I told my boss who then announced it to all by email. One of my co-workers was about to say something about my drinking as I seemed to be getting a beer belly. I doubt I could have hidden it til 12 weeks even if I tried!
Willow has been more than helpful these past few months, especially when I was so extremely tired that I had to take a nap right when I got home from work. I swear she has grown up so fast these past few months, it almost feels like I've missed a year of watching her grow. I am amazed how much she knows and find myself treating her like the 4 year old I thought she was but obviously isn't any longer. She lets me know that she is way ahead of me. Just like her mother!
